Discover the magic of this long-staple lustre fiber from two fabulous sheep
Wensleydale Teeswater Sliver/Roving: 50% Wensleydale wool, 50% Teeswater wool; 50g
*****
First, I'd like you to meet these two amazing sheep, among the oldest long-wool sheep in existence: Please scroll to the bottom of the page to see their portraits.
Aren't they wonderful? Look at the length of their fleece, the ultra-curly crimp. And, if you look closely, you'll see something else, particularly in the Wensleydale photo - you'll see the light reflecting right off their wool. It is all those qualities and more that make Wensleydale and Teeswater the two most valuable British sheep currently raised. Their long staple and very high crimp offer a fiber that spins into some of the longest-wearing yarn available anywhere. And, with a lustre very similar to that of mohair, this strong durable yarn is also among the most beautiful. Spin it and knit it into a garment with heartstopping good looks and a strength that can be passed on to future generations.
