Weaverknits (aka: Ann and Beth) have designed an edgy yet classic (or is it, classic yet edgy?) cardigan made amazing in Fleece Artist's Blue Face Leicester 2/8. And, the pattern is FREE at http://www.knitty.com/ISSUEspring08/PATTtempest.html !! The beauty is enhanced by the fact that all sizes up to 55" bust can be knit with only 250g to 500g of BFL 2/8 (count them, thats 1 skein of each colorway for Medium or smaller and only 2 skeins of each colorway for larger sizes!).
Here's the formula to start some Tempest magic of your own: pick out 1 highly varied colorway and then pick out a subtle colorway that has a color found among all the colors of the first skein. Go to www.knitty.com to download the pattern and cast on! You'll never find yourself a castaway when you're knitting or wearing Tempest!

BFL 2/8 is one of the finest wools on the planet. Period. Blue Face Leicester 2/8 is a fingering weight long staple wool (this means it has a very strong fiber) that is softer than merino ( we all know what softer means). It is also a beautifully honest wool - no superwash, no adulterations. It's not only pretty much the way nature presented it to us (ok, not the color or spinning, but you know what I mean), it is soft, comforting, and warm the way only an unadulterated wool can be. Consider the possibilities of BFL 2/8 for baby layettes, lace shawls, fine sweaters. Imagine what a traditional Fair Isle sweater might look like if you used handpainted BFL 2/8 - imagine further how soft and luscious it might feel. The possibilities are endless . . . and awaiting your hands.
