Each Favourite Soft Socks/Mittens Kit contains:
Mo: 78% kid mohair, 13% wool, 9% nylon; 150m/164yds; 75g/2.64oz
Blue Face Leicester: 100% wool; 150m/164yds; 75g/2.64oz
The patterns for Favourite Soft Socks and Favourite Soft Mittens in one size. Note: each kit will make either a pair of socks or a pair of mittens, your choice. PATTERN NOTE: the pattern calls for casting on 26 stitches for either socks or mittens -- that's not enough, imnsho. Cast on 36 -- there's plenty of yarn for it and you'll get better socks/mittens. Follow the pattern with that 1 exception, adjusting for total stitch count as you go.
Suggested needle size: 5mm/US 8, two 24" circular needles or set of 4 or 5 double pointed needles, your preference
With the unsurpassing softness and warmth of this yarn combo and the joyous play of colors it's no wonder that anything you knit with this kit will become a favourite. Everyone I know who has a pair of the Soft Socks uses them as house slippers every chance they get. I made a pair (with 36 stitch cast-on) and just love them - they're great Birkie socks, too.

The Dahlia Method
of Sock Sizing
We have a young knitterly friend named Dahlia who, when she was just shy of 9 years old knit a pair of Favourite Soft Socks on two circular needles. She creatively solved the problem that they were sized for adults. She put them on and hopped into a warm bath. Then she lathered them up while still on her foot and gave herself a socky foot massage until they fit just right!
Even if the young people in your life don't knit their own Soft Socks or Mittens, they'll love the "Dahlia method" of making them fit!
