Ottawa is a nearly perfect skirt yarn - it is firm but soft, and, in addition to showcasing Fleece Artist's color artistry, it has a compelling, tweedy look that is just right for a cool weather skirt. You'll think you're out walking the moors when you wear it! In fact, we found this kit to be so evocative, that it swept us back to the highlands and shorelines of Scotland and the North Sea.

If you are like me and don't quite feel that a form-fitting straight skirt is for you, there is enough yarn in a kit to create a more flowing skirt that will come to about knee length or just below. Just use Barbara Walker's instructions in Knitting from the Top (see side bar) to achieve the fit you need. If you'd like a longer flowing skirt, order 2 kits and plan on using the extra for a matching scarf and hat.

However you make it, though, do give the invisible join a try -- it's a great technique for a really designer-quality finish.
