The complete 5 page pattern for the Lady of the Forest Shawl above, approximately 34" long at center back, 58" wide across shoulders, 26" wide across base of front edge finished size (blocked).

Suggested needle size and gauge: 6.5mm/US 10.5 straight or circular needles, your choice; 13sts and 26 rows/4" square when knit in garter stitch and measured after washing and blocked

Ilga Leja designed her Lady of the Forest Shawl with an eye to both the wonder of the forest and the beauty of Fleece Artist yarn. The result is a versitile wrap that sings of color as it conveys the rich depths of nature. The chosen yarn, Silk Stream, is just right for this pattern as it offers up its rich colors from within a yarn reminiscent of raw silk, but with the soft comfort of wool, also. Both design and yarn marry the elegant with the rustic, befitting their forest namesake.

The finished wrap can be worn as a shawl, or, when sewn together, as a large cape or poncho. Enhanced by the natural flow of Fleece Artist color, it drapes in different direction when worn in different ways, again achieving a harmonious marriage of the elegant and natural.
