This kit was my first encounter with Fleece Artist handpainted yarns -- Cat Bordhi arrived with an unbelievable array of Garter Stitch Jacket Kits. Sitting surrounded by those kits whose textures and colors were so alive they seemed to speak was like waking up to find yourself in the king's treasure house, surrounded by gold and jewels everywhere. I remember picking up the kit that became my first Fleece Artist Jacket and cradling it in my arms like a baby.
I was in love. Cat generously left the kit with me and I began knitting Sally Melville's Einstein Jacket, one of my favorite patterns. I have never knit so slowly in my life -- not because I couldn't have gone faster, mind you, but because I wanted to linger over each color as it passed through my fingers. And the slow meander of color became my solace at the end of the day as it awoke in me a new awareness of beauty everywhere.
When at last I was done, I had created a jacket that I wear every chance I get -- and each time I put it on, it warms me body, soul and spirit.
This kit gives you ample yarn to make Sally Melville's Einstein Jacket (in The Knit Stitch). Just modify the Men's Jacket to women's proportions using Sally's tips on lengthening and shortening. I had enough left over to make either a Moebius scarf or matching hat.
