Using colour, texture, and form, the Indonesia scarf evokes the beautiful terraced rice fields of
Indonesia. The interlocking stitch pattern of the main section recalls rice paddies over the expanse
of a field, while the ruffled edging, with its pronounced knit-stitch ridges, isolates the individual
rice stalks.

The main section of the scarf is worked first in one piece and can serve as a scarf in its own right,
without the edging, if you like. Our kit provides enough yarn to complete the scarf with the ruffled edging, however. The Accordion Pleat Stitch is picked up and knit along each long side for that added touch of interest as it frames the face. It also becomes a folded collar, echoing the lines of traditional Indonesian dress as it offers so many ways to wear Indonesia.
